Home Remedies for Depression

Depression is an emotional disorder that involves both physical and mental states. It affects a person with feelings of extreme sadness for months or years. Depression is the mental imbalance of the mind, which leads to unpleasant and irritable behavior. Treating depression is tougher than treating physical disorders.

1. Prolonged periods of anxiety and tension
2. Excessive and indiscriminate use of drugs

Natural Home Remedies for Depression

Following are some of the effective home remedies for depression:

1. Drink apple juice daily. It is an effective nerve tonic and recharge the nerves with new energy and life
2. Drink ginger tea (1/2 to 1 teaspoon of ginger powder steeped in hot water) twice a day. It has good results in the treatment for depression
3. Prepare a tea by boiling 1 cup of water with powder of 2 green cardamoms seeds. Add sugar and drink this 2 times a day. It is also good home remedy for depression
4. Eat cashew nut daily. It helps in fighting with depression and nervous weakness
5. Prepare a tea by adding 1/4-teaspoon tulsi and 1/2 teaspoon of sage per cup of hot water. Drink it twice a day
6. Add a handful of fresh Rose petals to a cup of boiling water. Add sugar and drink it to avoid depression and relax your mind

Depression Treatment and Advice

1. Participate in religious activities
2. Change in working environment
3. Avoid over use of psychosomatic drugs
4. Don’t drink tea, coffee, tobacco and alcohol in excess
5. Avoid heavy food stuffs
6. Daily exercise is also a good treatment of depression
7. Relax your mind with meditation, massage, light music and laughter

Herbal Remedies for Depression

1. Take 5 gram of Bhrami (Bacopa monniera), mulethi (Glycyrrhiza glabra) separately or in combined form two times a day with milk
2. Apply sandal wood powder on forehead daily
3. Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) powder in milk is an effective herbal remedy for depression
